Where to begin to achieve a healthy mind and body? This puzzle is simply and easy to follow and with the pieces you create a core to build from. This core will allow you build a more happy, positive and healthy mind and body
Exercise:
– What we do — or don’t do — with our bodies influences our mind. Regular exercise and healthy eating habits lead to both physical and mental health.
Mindfulness
–Intentional activities, mindful actions that you can use to achieve a healthier happier life. Live in the Moment and give yourself Permission to be Human. Become keenly aware of your surroundings and flourish and encourage mental health.
Sleep
– Adequate sleep is also important to both your physical and mental health. Improves your cognitive skills and physical performance –makes us feel better and more vital and vigorous.
Investing in Social Connections
– Hugs make people happier – touch naturally calms the body.
If we observe genuinely healthy happy people, we shall find that they do not just sit around being contented. They make things happen. They pursue new understandings, seek new achievements, and control their thoughts and feelings. In sum, our intentional, effortful activities have a powerful effect on how healthy and happy we are, over and above. Learn the habits of a healthy happy person.

Promote physical and mental health through wellness education. Learning how to achieve optimism, self esteem, creativity and improved cognitive skills will provide your people with the skill to understand their core values and discover innovative ways to incorporate their values into their every day.

A Simple 4 Piece Puzzle to Wellness

Recently, I conducted a 1 hour “Healthy Mind/Healthy Body” workshop for 75+ participants at law firm with offices locally and across the US. Some of the participants were in the room and the others were connected via the web. We discussed the 4 core pieces of the “wellness” puzzle and how they fit into a healthy, happy and productive life.

Exercise

Mindfulness

Sleep

Social connections

Although the “cost” to the firm in employee time was considerable, the long term benefits will outweigh the short term cost, especially if they continue to reinforce the message with ongoing training and support.

DiSC is an assessment tool used to discover you primary behavioral style through self-awareness and personal effectiveness:
D – Dominance; i – Influence; S – Steadiness; C – Conscientiousness
DiSC assessments are Classic or Classic Plus. Both assessment reports are rich and full of useful information.
The Classics assessment reports on your unique behavioral style based on your answers to 23 questions. You learn about your primary dimension, tendencies, needs, preferred environment and strategies for effectiveness. You are provided an intensity index highlighting adjectives about your strengths and weaknesses followed by a more detailed explanation for the adjectives in each dimension. Your classical profile pattern is also revealed portraying your behavior with a specific blend of the four DiSC dimensions.

Door Opening Ceremony

I’m in a dilemma about the “door opening ceremony”. Some women like it when you open the door for them and some consider it an affront to women’s liberation. What’s a guy supposed to do?

Dear Confused Door Opener,

Like many aspects of proper behavior, the “door opening ceremony” is evolving over time. The traditional woman (born before 1946) was brought up to expect a man to open the door for her. Millennial women (born between 1981 and 1999) expect gender neutrality in the workplace. The women in between range from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Since you can’t always tell where a woman falls age-wise, the best you can do is look for signals in body language. If a woman falls back as if waiting for you to open the door, then you are probably safe in opening it. If a woman doesn’t hesitate when approaching a door, it’s probably safe to let her open it herself.

That said, you likely won’t always be able to read the situation accurately. The best you can do is always show respect and then most people won’t interpret your behavior as offensive. There’s one rule that always holds true. If you are hosting a business guest, the host always holds the door open regardless of gender.
